PCMCIA 3G Card Adapter for USB : U111-530

Providing a solution for customers who have purchased a 16-bit 3G card (UMTS, EDGE, GPRS) from their local network provider and wish to connect the card via a USB slot, the U111-530 can be used with laptops and desktop PCs.

This offers more flexibility for anyone who has a supported 3G card model for use with a laptop, and provides a way to connect to high speed internet services for anyone who who lives in an area where wired broadband Internet is not available. You can also connect to low cost laptops which are not fitted with PC card slots (e.g. the new Dell LX1 range), or any machine where the PC card slot is needed for another application.

The card is removable so the U111-530/630 allows you to move your 3G connection between your laptop and desktop PC.

If you have not already purchased a modem card, we recommend that you confirm with your operator which card will be supplied before you purchase as several operators may supply different makes of PCMCIA card under the same model name. If you have already purchased a datacard the manufacturer and model name are usually displayed on the rear label.

If your PC card is not supported in the U111-530, then one of the other U111 models may meet your requirements.

If you need an adapter for a 32-bit (Cardbus) card, then the U142 will meet your requirements.

For OEM customers

The generic U111 design can be adapted by Elan to support other 16-bit PCMCIA card models. As well as a completed unit, OEM customers can also purchase the USBPC16 IC for use in their own embedded hardware designs. Please contact usfor more information.
