USB Adapters for PCMCIA and CardBus cards
USB is the most common and well-known connectivity standard; Whatever type of PC you are using you almost certainly several USB ports, even if you have no serial ports, PCMCIA slots or any other way of connecting peripherals.
Unfortunately not every type of peripheral is available in USB format. What if you need to connect a PC card, still the format of choice for many add-on devices, to your system and you simply don't have a PC card slot available? Or if you manufacture a PCMCIA or Cardbus product which you cannot convert to USB, but you want to expand your market? Elan can offer you a solution.

For 32-bit cards
The U142 has been developed specifically to offer 3G connectivity via the USB slot for customers using CardBus 3G datacards. Since many operators 'rebrand' the datacard that they supply, please see our supported card list to check which adapter you require
The X142 adapter interfaces to same cards via an ExpressCard slot.
Customers wishing to use Elan's unique design for the U142, which can be adapted for other 32-bit card designs, should contact us about the USBPC32 IC solution.
For 16-bit cards
The U111 is a generic model of PCMCIA card reader for USB bus. It is available for OEM requirements as a customised product, and each variant has it's own product code.
The U111-530/630 supports a number of wireless modem cards ("3G Datacards").
The U111-IPW supports the CDMA card from IP Wireless which is sold by T-Mobile in parts of Eastern Europe, and by Woosh in New Zealand
The U111 design can be purchased as the USBPC16 IC solution
Other models are available which support card types including WiMAX cards.
