Unique USB Host Controller Solution to add one or more USB ports
The USBHC869 is a USB Host Controller that has been specially designed for embedded microprocessor and microcontroller systems. The device is based on the proven VMB5000A chip. The device adds a USB port, with a low pin count parallel interface and a very small 4x4mm LGA36 footprint. For ultimate flexibility the device includes a USB host controller that allows Full Speed (12Mbits/sec) USB target devices to be bridged via the USBHC869 to the 16 bit parallel bus. To sustain high throughput rates, the USBHC869 offers separate 16KByte TX and 16KByte RX FIFOs. The device contains an oscillator for use with an external crystal (24 Mhz) or alternatively an external clock source can be connected. A programmable Phase Locked Loop allows "crystal free" operation if an external clock is available (of between 2MHz and 32MHz). Sample driver code and design support is available by contacting Elan Digital Systems.
