Can the CF232 be used with an IDE interface?

The CF232 (and our other serial cards) are serial IO cards which comply to the PCMCIA/CF IO standard. They are not IO storage cards and so can't connected directly to an IDE interface

More Information

In the PCMCIA and CF specifications, PCMCIA ATA and CF ATA storage (Flash) cards can be pin strapped into a special mode to allow them to be connected directly to an IDE controller or a microprocessor port. It's great for embedded PC's since there is no moving parts in (most of) these storage cards, so you can add have high reliability/ruggedised etc. It is also relatively cheap since you can design the system to have externally added file storage with no extra chips by using an available IO port from the microprocessor, all you need is a CF socket to allow connection to the storage card. But this limits this type of hardware to only one type of card.
