Serial Card Driver
These drivers are for Elan's range of PCMCIA and Compact Flash
standard communications cards.
For Desktops

For PDAs and other CE platforms
All of Elan's standard comms cards work with the native operating system drivers in ALL versions of Windows CE / Pocket PC (Including CE.NET and Windows Mobile). The drivers below give you additional features including support for dual function cards. Dual function cards are supported by the latest CE serial driver, and the CF332 card is known to work without any additional driver on some new PDA models, including :
- HP iPAQ h2200
- HP iPAQ hx2410
- HP iPAQ hx2190
- TDS Recon
Driver CAB files : This is a zip file; extract the appropriate CAB file for your PDA using Winzip or other utility and copy the CAB file directly to your PDA using a memory card, infra-red or similar method. Then on your PDA select the CAB file and the driver will be installed.
A driver for ActiveSync :
This is a self-extracting installation file which you can run on your MS Windows PC to transfer the
driver for your PDA using ActiveSync; it automatically selects and installs the correct driver for your PDA.
This is the driver that makes the 'happy beep' on insertion of a card
The two drivers are the equivalent, so you only need to install one. Your choice depends only on your preferred method of installation.
Registry Settings
The following registry keys are used in the elSerial driver :
ActiveKeyNumber = the number of the Active key
DeviceArrayIndex = Used by the OS
DeviceType = by the OS
DisableCardInsertionSoundEffects = turn off/on "happy beep"
Dll = Used by the OS
EnablePowerManagement = power management... 0= turns off, 1=Turns on
EnableXscaleHacks = turns of the xscale hacks
ExtFIFO1Size = Size of the 1st external fifo
ExtFIFO2Size = Size of the 2nd external fifo
NoScratchPad = Turn off the Scratchpad test
Prefix = Used by the OS
ResetDelay = delay in mS after asserting rest
RxBufferSize = size of the Rx buffer
VPUOperatingMode = sets the operating mode of the VPU
