- Which cards can I use in my U142?
- Why does my GT Max card appear as a 'Fusion' card in Device Manager when I use it in the U142?
Which cards are supported by the U142?
The U142 has been designed to support a number of models of 3G datacard from Option Wireless. These models have serial numbers starting with an N or a G. (Examples : NL, NZ, NF, GA, GT, GS...) Please see our Supported card list for more information.
Other PCMCIA cards, including memory cards, are not supported. You cannot use any other cards, including WLAN cards, other networking cards or memory cards in the U132.
Why does my GT Max card appear in Device Manager as a 'Fusion' Card?
when you plug the GT Max card in via a U142, it appears to the computer as part of a 'USB' device and it needs to use a different driver. Option (the manufacturers of the GT Max card) so offer a USB driver, but it is necessary for the card to be 'called' a Fusion card in order for this driver to load.
This only affects the name of the device; this means that in Device Manager you can see that the card is labelled as a Fusion card. It does not affect the operation of the card in any way.
