Help! My software doesn't look right and the tabs aren't visible

The USBscope50 software relies on transparency to display properly. On a very small number of systems the transparent color is not what the USBscope50 software expects so the display looks wrong.

This problem is fixed in later versions of the USBscope50 software, so if this happens on your system please upgrade to the latest version.

I don't have any tabs visibile on the right showing CH1 down to TRIG. The only tab I have is the "About" tab.

This problem has been observed on a Dell Inspiron 8600 with Windows XP Professional, version 2002, service pack 2.

This occurs when a large font size is selected (in the operating system). The following steps should fix the problem :

  1. Bring up the display properties window. This can be done by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting properties or through control panel
  2. Hit the settings tab
  3. Hit the advance button
  4. The display DPI setting needs to be set to "Normal Size - (96 DPI)

My USBscope50 software will only start in demo mode?

If your USBscope50 hardware is not properly recognised by Windows, then when you start the USBscope50 application it doesn't detect the scope, and will launch in demo mode only. If you look in Device Manager, you can't see the two entries for the scope that should appear after installation. You can see a device with a yellow !

If you right-click on this device and ask Windows to update the driver, and then to search automatically for the driver, this will fail even if the USBscope50 application is installed and the CD-ROM is inserted into the computer.

Work Around

It is necessary on some systems to point Windows to the driver file, because it does not detect it as belonging with the USBscope50 device. Here are the steps to do this :

Once this device is installed the yellow ! has gone and opening the USBscope50 software works as it should - no longer in demo mode.
